DAS - Direct Access Scheme Course
This course allows those over the age of 21 to learn and take their test on the more powerful motorcycles. The DSA website defines this as follows:-
After taking CBT and the Theory Test the practical test may be taken on a motorcycle with a power output of at least 35kW. A pass allows you to ride any size of bike. All or part of the CBT course may be taken on either a learner bike or a large bike. You may practise for the practical test on bikes larger than the learner bike specification provided:
You are accompanied at all times by an approved instructor on another bike and in radio contact
You wear fluorescent or reflective clothing and follow all other provisional license restrictions
We can provide all the training that you require to take you from the CBT through to your practical test, and will come with you to and from the test itself.
The amount of training that you will require naturally depends upon your aptitude and previous experience, and we can judge this during the training.
As a guide we generally find the following times (below) appropriate and these feature in our price list
Those with previous motorcycle experience - 8 hrs
Those with road experience only (ie. Car license holders) - 11 hrs
Total novices - 20 hrs
